Ah, thermometer and thermostat. I love that. One measures the current temperature or health of the relationship — the other prompts the touch system to turn on if the temperature dips below a certain level.
For a thermometer to give an accurate reading, it needs proper calibration. After almost 30 years together, I find that my husband and I occasionally still need to recalibrate our thermometers. Now I have a good metaphor for it.
